EuroEnergy Announces new Drone Inspection Partnership with Perceptual Robotics

30 Sep 2022

EuroEnergy is pleased to announce a new drone inspection partnership with intelligent automation company Perceptual Robotics.

The Bristol-based company successfully conducted wind turbine inspections at EuroEnergy's assets in Tripoli, Greece this summer employing its innovative DOT drone and Dhalion system.

EuroEnergy has now purchased a Dhalion drone, enabling the autonomous implementation of drone inspections. Perceptual Robotics will keep providing inspection analysis and reports.

Through the Dhalion system, EuroEnergy can carry out thorough turbine inspections collecting first-rate data from turbines in less than 20 minutes, and quickly evaluating them.

Perceptual Robotics is an intelligent automation company, with headquarters in the UK and Europe, that offers its technology and services globally. The company emerged from the University of Bristol and incubated its technologies at the Bristol Robotics Laboratory.

Theofanis Mermigkousis, COO of EuroEnergy, declared he was impressed by the innovative wind turbine inspection that Perceptual Robotics offers.

He said: “As one of the leading renewable energy companies with operating assets in Greece and Romania, ensuring we can keep our turbines at maximum output is essential to the success of EuroEnergy. Perceptual Robotics’ Dhalion drone has the benefit of being fully automated while allowing us to track the progress of any damage on our turbines over multiple inspections. This means we can ensure we are maintaining our assets to the best of our ability, cutting costs and increasing safety. We are delighted to enter into this partnership with Perceptual Robotics.”

In September, EuroEnergy engineers visited Perceptual Robotics’ headquarters in Bristol to get trained and certified to inspect in-house wind blades and solar panels using their own Dhalion drone and PV thermal cameras. Perceptual Robotics will continue to produce the results of each inspection within 48 hours, with EuroEnergy able to access the data anywhere in the world.

Kostas Karachalios, CEO of Perceptual Robotics, discussed the possibility of using Dhalion to inspect EuroEnergy’s solar sites in the future.

He said: “This is the beginning of a great partnership between EuroEnergy and Perceptual Robotics. We are thrilled they have singled-out Dhalion as their inspection system of choice after experiencing the system's success for themselves at inspections we carried out this summer. We look forward to strengthening this relationship over time with the possibility of inspecting EuroEnergy’s solar and other assets.”
